For those of us that enjoy painting while standing, I have just purchased an adjustable chair that goes from desktop to counter top and I love it! As I learned the hard way, good posture is important for artists, so this ergonomic chair enables me to sit down when needing to paint flat, yet instantly return to proper computer desktop height. My easel, when flat is 36″ high.
This photo shows how I work in the studio – I paint while looking at the computer from my own photo sketches. Lesson learned on this one: Don’t plan a 36″ high painting if you must paint flat like in this one (‘Croissant et Brioches’, acrylic and 22k gold leaf on gesso board). I had to paint much of it while painting sideways!
